Welcome to the website of our research group. We are experimental chemists working in the field of materials science with emphasis on understanding the ties between structure and properties in modern (functional) materials. The group is associated to the Chair of Inorganic and Metal-Organic Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich (Prof. Dr. R. A. Fischer, website), with research laboratories located at the Catalysis Research Centre, CRC.
Current research projects in the group focus on the thermodynamics and lattice dynamics in functional inorganic-organic frameworks, such as hybrid perovskites and metal-organic frameworks. By investigating the structure of crystalline materials on an atomistic level, we seek to develop design principles that help us synthesising new materials with distinct physical properties. Our research philosophy founds on a strong believe in interdisciplinpary collaborations across different areas of materials science which we have recently summarised, see „Organised chaos: entropy in hybrid inorganic–organic systems and other materials“, Chem. Sci. 2016.
